Old Jewish cemetery in Sosnowiec - located in Pastewna Street, a Jewish cemetery serving the Jewish community that once lived in the current district of Sosnowiec - Modrzejów. There are no documents that would allow to establish the date of its beginning. However, the fact is that it must have existed already in the 18th century. The cemetery was heavily destroyed by Germans during World War II. Then for many years it was overgrown with grass and bushes. Only in the 80's and 90's the cemetery was cleaned up and fenced.
Currently, there are about three hundred tombstones or their fragments in the cemetery.
A curiosity is the almost unique matzevot with a Polish eagle and with an image of a horse, carved on a matzeva by Szymon Wenger.
