Rezerwat Kopiec Kościuszki
Facts and practical information
Kopiec Kościuszki nature reserve - a forest nature reserve established in 1989, located in the Maciejowice commune, near the village of Nowa Krępa. It covers an area of 6.07 ha.
The protection aims at preserving, for scientific and didactic reasons, the site of mourning cinquefoil and other rare plant species as well as well-preserved fragments of forest communities: oak-hornbeam, oak-hornbeam and mixed forest.
The rich undergrowth includes elderberry, trembling sedge, yellow goldenseal, small goldenseal, redwood, and full coconut.
The name of the reserve commemorates the events associated with the battle of Maciejowice - on the reserve in the place, recognized as the one where Tadeusz Kościuszko was wounded and taken prisoner, there is a small mound made of stones. A walking trail leads to the mound.
