Facts and practical information

Kociołek Nature Reserve - a peatland reserve in the municipality of Biskupiec, in Novomiejski County. It is located in the Krotoszyny forestry. It was created by order of the Minister of Forestry and Wood Industry on February 4, 1958. Its area is 7,20 ha. It was created in order to preserve the original peat bog vegetation.

The reserve is situated in a relatively deep excavation depression. Near its center there is a water reservoir of 0.90 ha, which is a remnant of a once larger dystrophic lake. The reservoir is surrounded by transitional peat bogs formed as a result of overgrowing of the lake. The whole reserve is surrounded by a forest complex.
