Paproć
Facts and practical information
Paproć - a peak in the Beskid Wyspowy. By the local people it is also called Koszarska Góra or Rysia Góra. It is an elevation with a levelled summit in the form of a large plateau, located between the Łososina River valley to the north and the road no. 28 from Mszana Dolna to Limanowa to the south. The western slopes descend to the Słopniczanka Creek valley, the eastern to the Sowlinka Creek valley. The northern ridge of Mt Paproć ends at Młyńska Góra, flowing through the Łososina River. The Fern rises above the villages of: Tymbark, Piekiełko, Łososina Górna, Koszary, Limanowa and Zamieście.
In spite of its small height, the open glades on the top of Mt Paprota offer original and extensive panoramas of the Beskid Wyspowy. The panorama includes Kostrzêca, Pasierbiecka Góra with Kamionna, the Łososinske Range, Ostra, Cichoń, the Słopnicka Pass, Mogielica, Łopień, Ćwilin, the Gruszowiec Pass and Śnieżnica, as well as the towns located in the valleys and on the mountain slopes: Łososina Górna, Pasierbiec, Laskowa, Limanowa, Słopnice, Dobra, Tymbark. On a clear day you can see Krakow.
An asphalt road leads from Łososina Górna to the top of Mt Paproca. On the summit there is a steel cross and the chapel of Our Lady, Queen of the Beskids, built by the local believers as a votive offering. There is also an information board for tourists and benches. Every year the Limanowa Commune organizes on Paproca prayer meetings "For safe summer and clean environment".
There is a hiking trail leading through Paprocie, as well as marked cycling trails that start at the western foot of Paprocie, by the Słopniczanka stream. There is also a complex of boulders and rock outcrops called Tabacorz on this stream at the foot of the Paproć Mountain.
