The building complex consists of: The Great Synagogue, the Little Synagogue and the pokah house. During the communist era, before the Museum took custody of the buildings, they were used, among other things, as military and cooperative warehouses.
The museum has four departments: ethnographic, historical, promotional-educational and administrative. The ethnographic department is responsible for organizing exhibitions presenting local folklore and folklore of exotic cultures. The historical department collects relics and documents related to the history of Włodawa and the region. Judaica constitute a large part of these souvenirs. Some of them can be seen on the permanent exhibition in the men's room of the Great Synagogue. The promotion and education department deals with the promotion of the region. One of the most important achievements of the institution in this sphere is initiating and conducting a cyclic event commemorating the multiethnic and multi-religious history of the town - the Festival of Three Cultures.

The branch was located on 9 hectares of real estate, including the building of a former kindergarten, which housed the permanent exhibition entitled Sobibór - the death camp, opened in 2000.
