Opened in July 2004 on the 60th anniversary of the uprising, the museum's mission is to preserve the memory of the heroic struggle for freedom by the Polish resistance against the occupying German forces. The museum is housed in a former tram power station, a structure that itself survived the ravages of war and now serves as a symbol of Warsaw's indomitable spirit.
