Facts and practical information
Saint Margaret Church in Pierzchnica is a Roman Catholic parish church located in the city of Pierzchnica, Świętokrzyskie Province. It belongs to Chmielnicki decanate of Kielce diocese.
The present brick church, founded by the Sandomierz voivode Maciej Soltyk and his wife Margaret, the owners of Kurozwêki, was erected in classicist style in the years 1798-1800. It was consecrated in 1808, on the "Sunday after St Hedwig", by the auxiliary bishop of Lublin, Jan Kanty Lenczowski. The previous wooden church from around 1470 was demolished in 1840.
The building consists of a three-bay rectangular nave and a single-span chancel, closed with a semicircular apse. The interior decoration comes partly from the old church and from the time of the construction of the new church.
The church has four altars. The main altar was made in 1892 by Pawel Turbas. Side altars represent the Baroque style. Altar of Lord Jesus Crucified comes from the previous church and was made in the first half of 17th century.
The complex of the parish church was entered in the registry of immovable monuments. It consists of: St. Margaret Church, church cemetery on Urzędnicza Street with a fence from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, bell tower from 1800, vicarage from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
