Park im. gen. Jarosława Dąbrowskiego, Łódź
Facts and practical information
General Jarosław Dąbrowskiego Park - an area of urban greenery located in the southern part of Łódź between Rzgowska, Jarosław Dąbrowskiego, Podmiejska and Stanisław Jachowicza Streets in the Górna district.
The park was laid out in 1960 to a design by K. Chrablewski. Already during its construction the park's area was significantly reduced, with sports facilities of the Youth Sports Club Metalowiec, a kindergarten and a municipal bathhouse, which now houses a bank. In the eastern part, next to the sports field, on the ruins of the old factory a toboggan hill was built. South of the hill, on Stanis³aw Jachowicza street, a park gym was built in the autumn of 2006. The park covers an area of 6.5 hectares, the adjacent sports grounds cover 2 hectares.
The tree stand lacks exotic and rare species found in other parks of Lodz. It is dominated by lindens, oaks, poplars, birches, rowans, and robinias.
In 2009, the area south of the park was transformed; the buildings were torn down and the rubble was removed. In this place residential buildings will be erected, two of the walls of the demolished factory will be reconstructed.
