Facts and practical information
The Âncora Fort, also referred to as Lagarteira Fort, is located in the former place of Lagarteira, now the town and parish of Vila Praia de Âncora, in the municipality of Caminha, district of Viana do Castelo, in Portugal.
On a rocky outcrop on the right bank of the mouth of the Âncora River, in a dominant position over the beach, it defended that port and fishing village, assisting in the defense of the fortress of Caminha.
