Palheiros e Zorro river beach is located in the parish of Torres do Mondego in Coimbra, Portugal. 40° 12' 10" N 8° 21' 55" O
Created in 1997 and equipped with the essential infrastructures, this beach is served by the river Mondego. The main access is through the village of Palheiros, on the left bank of the river, although access is also possible from the right bank, using the footbridge. The beach has barbecues and picnic tables. The river beach also has a bar with some snacks, including the local specialty, snails.
The beach is also a recreational area for kayaking, canoeing, fishing, hiking, mountain biking and beach volleyball. During the bathing season, between July and September, on the first weekend of each month, it hosts free concerts and film screenings organized by the Roque no Rio festival.
In 2012 the beach is a candidate for the "7 Maravilhas - Praias de Portugal" contest, and is being considered for the Blue Flag and the Accessible Beach project.
