The Black Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in Astrakhan. It was built in stone in 1816 at the expense of merchant Yakupov in place of the former wooden one. It was the cathedral mosque of Bukhara court.
In 1901, the imam of the mosque was Ali Maksutov. The congregation of the mosque was 1208 people. The decision of OIK from 25.01.1930, the mosque was closed and its building was given to Tatar school.
Since 1930, the building was not used as intended and demolished. On June 14, 1975 it was declared an architectural monument of regional importance. By the decision of Astrakhan Regional Executive Committee № 484 from 22.08.1990 it was taken under the state protection.
Restored from the ruins in 2005-2008. It is located at 48 Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya Street.
