Valley of Glory
Facts and practical information
The Valley of Glory, located in Russia, is a place commemorating the heroism and sacrifice of soldiers who fought during World War II. It is a special location that pays tribute to those who participated in one of the bloodiest battles on the Eastern Front – the Battle of Kursk.
Also known as the Prokhorovka Battlefield, the Valley of Glory is situated in the Kursk region and is part of a larger historical complex. It was here, in July and August of 1943, that intense fighting took place between the Soviet and German armies, which went down in history as a turning point on the Eastern Front.
Visitors to the Valley of Glory can see the grand "Victory" monument, which dominates the landscape, as well as numerous exhibits and monuments, including an impressive ensemble of sculptures depicting Soviet soldiers. At the heart of the complex is a museum that houses relics related to the battle, such as weapons, uniforms, and personal items of the soldiers.
This place is also home to the eternal flame and graves of unknown soldiers, making the Valley of Glory not only a tourist attraction but, above all, a place of memory and reflection on the cruelty of war.
