Pamatnik V. M. Leontevoj, Ulyanovsk
Facts and practical information
The monument to Valentina Leontieva is one of the landmarks of the city of Ulyanovsk.
After the death of People's Artist of the USSR Valentina Mikhailovna Leontieva on May 22, 2007, the Ulyanovsk regional government decided to erect a monument in her honor.
Originally, on August 1, 2007, near the Ulyanovsk Puppet Theater there was an original structure in the form of two benches facing each other and fastened together with a small table, on which lay the allegedly forgotten "Aunt Valya" glasses. On one of the benches there was an inscription: "The most precious thing is communication with people. V.M. Leontieva".
The next year the Ministry of Construction of the Ulyanovsk region summed up the competition for the best monument to V. M. Leontieva. The winner of the contest was her countryman - sculptor from St. Petersburg Nikolay Antsiferov. The monument was unveiled on Valentina Leontieva's birthday, August 1, 2008, and made up a single composition with the "chevalier" symbolizing soul mingling that Valentina Leontieva was a master of. The two-meter bronze sculpture on a pedestal made of granite from the Irina deposit depicts Valentina Leontieva, who came out of the theater and sat down in the park to rest and admire the view of the river.
