Lindulov forest zakaznik
Facts and practical information
Lindulovskaya Grove is a state natural botanical reserve. It is located on the territory of Vyborg district of Leningrad region near the village of Roshchino. The area of the reserve is 986 hectares. It was founded by decision No.145 of the Leningrad Region Executive Committee of March 27, 1976.
The purpose of the sanctuary is to preserve the oldest in Russia and Europe artificial plantation of Siberian larch, which is outside its range in the valley of the Roschinka River. The former name of this river was Lintulovka, hence the name of the grove. The beginning of the grove was laid in 1738 by the previously issued decree of Peter I, when on the place of the former arable land were made the first sowings of larch seeds collected in the Arkhangelsk province. Underplanting and planting continues all the time.
Lindulovskaya Grove is part of the UNESCO-protected site "Historic Center of St. Petersburg and Related Monument Complexes".
