Facts and practical information
Church in the Name of the Exaltation of the Honest and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord or the Church of the Exaltation of the Cross is a winter church with a hipped bell tower in Korovniki, a former village and now a district of Suzdal. The church was built in 1696 on the left bank of the Kamenka River, not far from the Spaso-Evfimiev Monastery. Next to it is a paired summer church of Kosma and Damian of the XVIII century.
It was built for the funds of Spaso-Evfimiev monastery and is a small one-domed pierless construction, consisting of two cells and a deep semicircular apse. The church was built of brick and has a two-slope roof. The higher cell is topped with a small cupola on a rather wide drum. Above the entrance to the church there is an octagonal tent-type bell tower with two rows of dormer windows, ending with a small onion-headed cupola. The church is decorated with corner pilasters and a moulded brick cornice.
The church was restored in 1970.
It is a monument of federal significance in accordance with the decree of the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR № 1327 of 30.08.1960.
