Cottage at Kubínska Holi - a tourist hostel under the top of Hala Kubińska, on its southern slopes falling towards the city of Lower Kubin in Slovakia.
The original hostel, erected by the club of Slovak tourists and skiers in the 1950s. In 1973, the current hostel was built slightly lower in 1973. The new shelter is a large, stone building located at an altitude of 1100 m a.s.l. In the clearing, from which there is a wide panorama of the Orawa Valley, the Choczańskie Mountains, the Tatra Mountains, the Niżne Tatra Mountains and the Great Fatra. Possible by bicycle. You can also get by car from Dolny Kubin. Free parking for living in a shelter. In winter, access is difficult, winter tires or chains are necessary. You can leave the car lower, in the parking lot at the ski lift station.
There are 65 beds in the shelter, a bar and a restaurant. Possibility to organize events. Next to the shelter, a marked hiking and bicycle tourism route.
In January 1968, an avalanche of 53 young skiers from Brno slid down in the shelter at the shelter for a group of 53 young skiers from Brno. The slope was landless at the time, but the avalanches never occurred here. Six people were killed in the avalanche. This event commemorates a small monument above the shelter.
