Facts and practical information
The chair is a narrow and stretched mountain in the Breginje corner on the border between the Julian Alps and the pre -alpine world. This is the highest hill in the eastern part of the chair ridge, Gran Monte in Italian. It is the longest ridge in the Julian Alps, stretching almost 34 km far from Kobarid to Humin, Italy.
In the Slovenian part of the ridge begins with the summit Starijski vrh and slowly climbs to the chair. The important peaks are Gabrovec and Museum, at the top of Muzc there is a remarkable view. A good kilometer west of them is the top low peak then the ridge passes into Italy and continues with the Jalovec / Punta di Montemaggiore and Brinica / Monte Briniz, continues towards the west of Rijeka and deeply cuts the ridge, which on the other side continues in the same direction and at Monte Chiampon | Grand Karman / Monte Chiampon above Humin reaches its highest point.
The massif of the chair is limited from the north by the Učje valley and the Soča Valley, and at the southern foothills there are picturesque places: Breginj, saddle, Homec, Stanovišče, Borjana, streams, Cretaca, Stara selo and Kobarid. The Nadiža River, which originates in the Breginjsko corner just off the border with Italy, flows east, and turns sharply south near the village of Kred. The southern slopes of the chair are naked, steep and grassy, and here and there also rocky. On the north side, a low forest grows almost to the top ridge. The whole chair is extremely viewed, in good weather you can see Friuli, the Gulf of Trieste, the Carnic Alps, the Dolomites, the Julian Alps, Veneto and all the way to Snežnik.
