Ultra Music Festival is an annual outdoor electronic music extravaganza held in Miami, Florida, typically in March. The festival was founded in 1999 by Russell Faibisch and Alex Omes, drawing inspiration from the 1997 Depeche Mode album "Ultra." Originally a one-day event, it expanded into a three-day festival in 2011, attracting vast crowds and providing a significant boost to Miami's economy.

The festival coincides with the Winter Music Conference and Miami Music Week, establishing Miami as a hub for electronic music enthusiasts during this period. Although it is not directly affiliated with Ultra Records, a renowned electronic music label, the festival has collaborated with the label for various marketing initiatives. Ultra has also extended its reach worldwide through Ultra Worldwide, hosting events in numerous countries.

Over the years, Ultra Music Festival has changed venues several times, from Miami Beach to Bayfront Park and Bicentennial Park. The festival has hosted numerous famous artists and unforgettable performances. However, in 2019, it faced backlash when it moved to Virginia Key due to environmental concerns and traffic issues.

One of the festival's main attractions is its extensive lineup, featuring top headliners and stages like Resistance Island. Ultra Music Festival has earned several awards and nominations within the electronic music scene, solidifying its status as a major influence. Unfortunately, the 2020 festival was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, marking it as one of the first major U.S. music festivals to be affected.
