Porta do Valado, Viveiro

The Puerta del Vallado, is one of the three gates that remain standing, of a total of five that were part of the old walled enclosure of the city of Vivero. This building is considered since 1949 as an Asset of Cultural Interest within the catalogue of monuments of the historical heritage of Spain.
The gateway overlooked the old Roman road. Although it lacks inscriptions relating to its period of construction, it is considered to date from the 13th century, but of Roman origin. On both sides of the gate, in Nicolás Cora street, formerly called Valado street, there are remains of the primitive wall.
