Playa de San Lorenzo, Gijón
Facts and practical information
The beach of San Lorenzo is located in the heart of Gijón. With a length of 1550 meters and shell-shaped, is one of the most emblematic beaches of the Principality of Asturias. It extends from stairway 0, located behind the Church of San Pedro, to stairway number 16, at the mouth of the river Piles. However, a rocky area extends for another three hundred metres to the "Mayán de Tierra", reaching a total length of about 1.8 km. Parallel to it runs the Paseo del Muro de San Lorenzo, which continues eastwards beyond the beach itself with the well-known coastal path of Cervigón, a maritime route of more than 2 kilometres that brings us closer to other beaches such as Rinconín or Peñarrubia. In total, the extension of the beach is 40,000 square meters at high tide and 240,000 square meters at low tide.
