Iglesia de San Baudillo del Pinar
Facts and practical information
The church of Carracielo del Pinar, also known as the church of San Baudilio del Pinar is a Catholic worship building in which the parish of the Segovian town of Samboal is located.
The church is dedicated to San Baudilio, and was part of a monastic complex of the Order of San Benito, whose date of foundation is unknown. It belonged to the priory of San Boal, one of the most important governed by the monastery of San Isidro de Dueñas, to which it was incorporated in 1112 by Count Pedro Ansúrez. Taking into account that he repopulated the town of Cuéllar and its Land, to which the place belongs, it is assumed that this knight was the founder of the monastery.
The building is one of the exponents of brick architecture in the province of Segovia, was declared of Cultural Interest in 2001 and intervened in a profuse restoration in 2006 by the Ministry of Development, with a budget of over 650,000 euros.
