The Museum of the Royal Artillery Factory of La Cavada is an exhibition space located in the town of La Cavada, in the Autonomous Community of Cantabria. In its facilities are held exhibitions, exhibitions and conferences related to the activity carried out by the factory of cannons that were used in the Spanish Royal Navy and in the defense of the Empire.
The museum is located in an old building belonging to the schools of La Cavada and owned by the City Council of Riotuerto. It was inaugurated on July 27th 2006 by the then president of Cantabria, Miguel Ángel Revilla Roiz, and in it you can see cannons of different calibres, some coming from the old installations of the Royal Factory and others brought from donations from museums or town halls; the different ammunition used, the manufacturing machinery, extensive descriptions in all senses about the birth, functioning and importance of the artillery industry of the town and its repercussion at world level, noble coats of arms and various models of ships of the time as well as of the installations. Along with the exterior exhibition, there is a life-size reproduction of a bridge section corresponding to an artillery ship, in which a war scene of its time is shown in a didactic way.
The museum, with the support of the Asociación Amigos del Museo de la Real Fábrica de Artillería de La Cavada, organises various cultural events throughout the year.
