Playa Gavieiro

Gavieiru Beach, also known as Playa del Silencio, is a rocky area, xogarral or pebble beach of approximately 500 meters long, which has no direct road access and appears surrounded by "imposing quartzite cliffs". It is located in the village of Castañeras in the council of Cudillero, being within a Special Protection Area for birds or SPA and also within a space included in the lists of Sites of Community Importance SCI.It is part of the Protected Landscape of the Western Coast of Asturias, a figure of protection included in the Plan for the Management of Natural Resources of Asturias, which, however, remains undeclared and therefore, in practice, does not constitute a protected landscape.
