Ermita de Nuestra Señora de Gracia
Facts and practical information
The hermitage of the Virgin of Grace of El Run is located in the term of the Spanish town of the same name, in the Ribagorza, Aragon. It was built in the first quarter of the 12th century on the initiative of the monks of Santa María de Lavaix, to whom the place of El Run belonged. It is in the Lombard Romanesque style.
It has a single nave with a semicircular chancel facing east and a tower that rises above the first section of the nave. It has typical Lombard Romanesque elements, such as the twin windows, the blind arches and the saw-tooth frieze under the cornice. It has similar characteristics to those of the Romanesque churches in the Bohí Valley, especially the church of San Clemente de Tahull.
The apse is built in rough ashlar stone alternating with ashlar; the nave, in ashlar stone; and the tower, in tuff stone ashlar.
In later times the nave was lengthened with a section, buttresses were built and it was covered with a pointed barrel vault.
