Facts and practical information

The Diocesan Seminary of San Miguel was built in the 18th century, in response to the provisions of the 16th century Council of Trent for the proper training of priests and ministers of Catholic worship.

The seminary building was built during the first half of the 18th century at the request of the bishop of Orihuela Juan Elías Gómez de Terán on the esplanade of the San Miguel hill as a seminary of the diocese of Orihuela. In the same place a place of prayer was built since the 16th century. The seminary was founded under the name of Seminario Conciliar de la Inmaculada Concepción y el Príncipe San Miguel, nowadays changed to Seminario Diocesano de San Miguel de Orihuela.
