Castell de Sallent
Facts and practical information
Sallent Castle is a watchtower located in the town of Sallent, in the municipality of Pinell in the Solsonès region.
Built in the 11th-12th centuries on the border between the lands of the old Catalonia and those of the Saracens, it was cylindrical in shape with the same width at the base as at the top. Nowadays it is in ruins and only the northern half is still standing, although it has not yet reached its maximum height.
This tower was declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest by decree published in the BOE on May 5, 1949.
Although no documentation has been found to prove it, it is plausible that the old manor house of Sallent, studied the firmness of its construction, can also be considered as part of the castle of Sallent.
