Facts and practical information
Pindal - a cave located near the village of Pimiango in the autonomous community of Asturia in Spain. Post of prehistoric art.
The cave is located in a coastal cliff. It consists of one 360 meter corridor. It was discovered in 1908 by Hermilia Alcalde del Rió, who published the results of his research in 1911. The paintings are located in five places of the cave. Made, sometimes also yellow and black paint, they present images of animals, mainly bison, horses and deer. One of the paintings presents the image of fish unique for Paleolithic art. In addition, the cave has abstract signs and rock engines. The chronology of paintings is disputed; They are associated with Magdalese art, but their formation is usually divided into several phases. The dating of the AMS method made in the 1990s made with black deer image showed the date of 10 200-10 040 BP, but the results of these tests are undermined.
