Cueva de los Enebralejos
Facts and practical information
The Cueva de los Enebralejos, or also known as the Lindajuelo, is the most important cave known in the province of Segovia, located a few meters from the municipality of Prádena de la Sierra, near the northern slope of the Sierra de Guadarrama. The access to the entrance of the cave is made from a road that starts from the detour of the N-110, barely one kilometre away from the town.
It has a multitude of speleothems, as well as some paintings and engravings that make it an attractive tourist destination. It is known that during prehistoric times it was used as a burial cave, as numerous ossuaries and human remains have been found. Nowadays, the cave is protected and its galleries can only be accessed with a guided tour.
The cave owes its name to the large number of junipers that populate the area, which for linguistic reasons still unknown are referred to as "junipers" among the inhabitants of the area.
