Mirador del Cerro del Castillo, Tudela
Facts and practical information
The Monument to the Sacred Heart of Jesus of Tudela in Spain, is a large statue built in honor of Jesus of Nazareth, "erected as a spiritual beacon on the top of the Cerro del Castillo, from which it extends its protection to the city and the whole region". The image of the Heart of Jesus is a fundamental piece of the silhouette of the city. It is located on what was once the main tower of the old Castle of Tudela and, later, the Hermitage of Santa Bárbara. The Heart of Jesus has its counterpoint on the other side of the city with the statue dedicated to the Heart of Mary.
On the 25th anniversary of the consecration of the city to the Heart of Jesus, the task of erecting a monument to commemorate the event was undertaken.
