The castle of Balsareny is located on top of a 420 m hill on the right bank of the river Llobregat, above the village of Balsareny, it is a fortification already dated 951 good example of Catalan civil Gothic style fortress. It has always been linked to the Balsareny lineage and is in an excellent state of conservation.
Today it is well visible from the axis of the Llobregat, from where the castle stands out with its airy battlements. The view over the river and the village of Balsareny is excellent. You can also see the towers of Castellnou and Castelladrall.
The current construction is quite well preserved, has elements of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries and was rebuilt in the nineteenth century.
Next to the castle you can visit the 12th century Romanesque chapel, with later modifications, of the Virgin of the Castle.
