Castell de Sentmenat
Facts and practical information
The castle of Senmanat is mentioned for the first time in 1056 in connection with a certain Ramon Miró. Later it is mentioned again in documents from the year 1065. In 1083 it was linked to the house of Moncada, and in 1380 Pedro de Senmanat became the lord of the castle and its territory, after acquiring it from Eimeric II lord of Centellas for 9000 pounds.
The castle of Senmanat was a landmark castle, and its lords had the title of "mere and mixed empire", that is to say that they had civil and criminal jurisdiction over the whole of its territory.
The castle was used as a farmhouse until 1990 and has been uninhabited since then.
