Peña Ubiña
Facts and practical information
Peña Ubiña is, with 2417 meters high, one of the highest mountains of the Cantabrian mountain range, and is also, together with the Fontán Sur, the highest of the Ubiña massif. It is located on the border between the Principality of Asturias -concejo de Lena- and the province of León -municipality of San Emiliano-.
In a survey carried out in 1992 by the Asturian newspaper La Nueva España among mountain people of the Principality -among which were mountaineers, technicians, directors of clubs and associations, as well as people related to the world of nature-, Peña Ubiña appeared as the second most beautiful mountain in Asturias, behind the Naranjo de Bulnes.
