Facts and practical information

Alange Castle is a medieval castle located in the municipality of Alange, in the province of Badajoz, rising on the Cerro de la Culebra at 485 m of steep and abrupt slopes of quartzite rock.

From the remains of this fortress you can see the castles of Hornachos and Montemolín. Being 200 metres above the Extremadura plain, it is also easy to see not only the village of Alange to the east, but the whole region at a 360º angle: Mérida and the mouth of the river Matachel in the Guadiana to the north, the imposing Alange dam to the west and the northernmost limits of the reservoir and Almendralejo to the south.
