Moclín Castle is a fortress located at the top of the fortified village of Moclín, in the province of Granada, autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain. Named during the Nasrid reign, 'Hins Al-Muqlin', in allusion to its clear status as a permanent lookout. It is dated from the Nasrid period, was built in the mid-fourteenth century, with elements of the previous one, as a border castle between the kingdoms of Granada and Castile, to occupy a leading position in the defense of the Nasrid kingdom, after the Castilian conquest of the fortresses of Alcaudete, Alcalá la Real and Castillo de Locubín, which were the three main strongholds of the defensive network of this sector. In 1486 it passed into the hands of the Catholic Monarchs.
