The City Council of Málaga is the institution that governs the city and municipality of Málaga. It is one of the four public administrations with political responsibility in the city, along with the General Administration of the State, the Junta de Andalucía and the Diputación de Málaga.
Since 1979, its political leaders are chosen by universal suffrage by the citizens of Malaga with the right to vote, in elections held every four years. At present, its mayor is Francisco de la Torre Prados, who is at the head of a PP government team.
The Town Hall has its headquarters in the Town Hall, which is located at Avenida de Cervantes, number 4, next to the Paseo del Parque.
