The Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània, a former convent rehabilitated for cultural use, is the headquarters of the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community. The Centre undertook in 2017 a new stage with the name of Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània with the aim of hosting a broad spectrum of current art, without forgetting other branches of thought such as sociology, architecture, economics, law, urban planning or medicine. Located in Museo Street in the city of Valencia, the monumental complex of this former convent illustrates from its chronological complexity and diversity of artistic styles, important stages in the history of architecture in Valencia.
The building is made up of several nuclei such as the medieval chapel, the Valencian Gothic cloister, the Renaissance cloister and the new church, today the parish church of Santa Cruz, the latter with late Gothic and Renaissance elements, the Communion chapel, the Baroque façade and bell tower, as well as valuable neoclassical exponents such as the chapel of the Third Order. Before the exclaustration in the 19th century it was part of the current Church of the Holy Cross.
