When Is the Best Time To Visit Spain?
The answer to the question of what is the best month to visit Spain depends on what you are interested in doing during your stay. Here you can see an overview of each month and its typical weather conditions.
Tourist Season in Spain
Spain is a country that can be visited all year round. Sunny and hot summers and mild winters attract tourists at all times. However, the peak tourist season is in the summer months from June to August. Almost all areas of the country, including the islands, have hot and rainless weather then. Sunny days encourage all kinds of recreation and activities. These range from beachcombing and sea bathing to sightseeing to mountain trekking and hiking.
The spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) months are also a good time to visit, especially for those who want to skip the worst of the heat. Warm, but not hot, days guarantee, above all, comfortable conditions for visiting cities and monuments.
In the winter months (November to March) you can also visit Spain. Admittedly, it is a bit colder, rains and thunderstorms are more frequent, but they are not so troublesome as to significantly hamper your visit. In the mountain areas, the ski season is underway during this time.

Spring months - cheerful and sunny. Temperatures reach about 20°C and gradually rise. There may be fleeting rains and thunderstorms, but they are usually not frequent and intense. Nature awakens to life, everything turns green, stretches of flowers appear in the meadows, almond trees and fruit trees also bloom. Colorful landscapes encourage hiking and mountain trekking. This is a very good time for sightseeing and touring in the country, especially for those who want to avoid the greatest heat and crowds of tourists.
Beginning in May, the beach and sea-bathing season begins on the eastern and southern coasts, as well as the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands. Spring is a good time for lovers of active recreation, the weather is favorable for walking, cycling and water sports (diving, sailing, surfing).

The warmest and sunniest period in all regions of Spain. Temperatures exceed 30°C, and in some places (including southern Andalusia) even reach 40°C. Due to the prevailing heat, sightseeing in cities can be somewhat difficult. It is then better to relax in the north of the country (the Basque Gulf coast) or in the mountains, where temperatures are slightly lower. It is also worth going to the eastern and southern coasts, where the blowing sea currents offset the feeling of heat somewhat.
The sunny weather makes the entire Spanish coastline a paradise for tourists, starting with the picturesque Costa Brava near Barcelona, through the golden Costa Dorada, Valencia, Murcia, to the Costa del Sol and Costa de la Luz in the south. All the beaches are filled to the brim. It's even the perfect time for lovers of sea swimming, water sports, diving and sailing.
Summer is also the peak tourist season in the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands, so expect higher prices and sizable crowds.

Warm autumn months, with air temperatures ranging from 20°C - 25°C, and sea water reaching above 20°C. Gradually it gets cooler and there may be fleeting rains and thunderstorms. Sun and sea bathing can be enjoyed without major problems. The warm but not hot autumn months are also a very good time for sightseeing in cities and touring around the country. Comfortable temperatures and nature in autumn colors also make hiking and mountain trekking more enjoyable during this time.
November - March

The coldest months of the year. In most areas of Spain, the temperature fluctuates between 5°C and 10°C. There is some fleeting precipitation and cloud cover, but you can still count on a good dose of sunshine. This is not a good time for beachcombing and sea bathing, but you can organize hiking and sightseeing without much concern for the aura.
At this time, the best weather can be found in the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands and the southern coast, and you can count on temperatures around 15°C - 20°C. In contrast, the coldest areas are central Spain and mountainous areas (Cantabrian Mountains, Castilian Mountains, Breton Mountains and Pyrenees), where frosts and snowfall are common.
Mountain ski resorts are besieged by ski enthusiasts. In the Sierra Nevada, the ski season runs from December to April.
In winter, some difficulties may occur in the northern and northwestern areas, where the rains fall quite heavily. In these areas, many hotels and beach restaurants are closed periodically.
