Klasatorpet
Facts and practical information
Klasatorpet is a Småland cottage from the 19th century, which since 1969 is a museum open in the summer. During the filming of Vilhelm Moberg's novel The Emigrants in 1969, the cottage was the location for the main characters' residence Korpamoen. Klasatorpet is located in Långasjö, southwest of Emmaboda in Småland.
The cottage was built in the early 1800s, and was named after former horseman Per Klase of the Växjö Company, who lived here for a time. It was then inhabited by several families.
Klasatorpet is managed by Långasjö hembygdsförening, which owns the houses and adjacent land after they were bought from the church. The intention is to preserve the cottage environment and farm the land as it was in the early 19th century.
