Sankt Jörgens park, Lund
Facts and practical information
Sankt Jörgens park or Skönadalsparken as it was called when it was built in the 1940s, is a park north of Villa Sunna and Hardebergaspåret in Lund. The park was designed by city gardener Oscar Ahlström. Work on the park was delayed when potatoes were grown on the site during the Second World War.
In the central part of the park there is a stone pond, which has been drained since 2006. In the south-western part of the park there used to be a leprosy hospital and a memorial made by Axel Wallenberg was erected on the site in 1953. A stream runs through the park and there are insects, amphibians and small birds. Oak trees and silver laurels grow in the park.
