For the shopping centre in Helsinki, see Forum, Helsinki.Forumgallerian is a shopping centre in central Uppsala at Forumtorget, bounded by Kungsängsgatan, Dragarbrunnsgatan, Smedsgränd and Bredgränd. Forumgallerian has 10,000 square metres of retail space and 6,000 square metres of office space. There are also 1,000 square metres of residential units.
The shopping centre was opened in 1953 and was originally called Forum, which belonged to the Cooperative Union. All activities in the shopping centre were then also carried out by the Cooperative Union. This was the first major department store in Uppsala. From the very beginning, it contained not only shops but also a café. Next to the shopping centre is Forumtorget, named after the shopping centre. In the 1970s, the shopping centre was called Domus when the Cooperative Society standardised the names of its shops and larger department stores in city centres would then be called Domus. In the 1980s, the shopping centre was renamed Forum again as the people of Uppsala never wanted to accept the name Domus.
In 1992, the shopping centre underwent a major refurbishment, which basically meant that the entire interior was completely redesigned.
The 1958 film Mannequin in Red was partly filmed in the Forum Gallery.
