The mosque Mâlik ibn Anas. is a Tunisian mosque located north of the city of Carthage.
It is erected at a place called "The Hill of the Odeon", on a site covering an area of three hectares, in the heart of the archaeological site of Carthage and in the immediate vicinity of the Odeon and the basilica of Damous El Karita. Originally called El Abidine, it takes the name of Mâlik ibn Anas following a ceremony held on November 23, 2012 in the presence of President Moncef Marzouki and Mohamed Youssef el-Megaryef, President of the General National Libyan Congress.
Opened in 2003, the building has a prayer hall that can accommodate 1,000 worshippers, an inner courtyard covering 1,500 m2, a 2,500 m2 esplanade and a minaret with a base of 9 meters and a height of 55 meters.
The mosque appears on the bills of ten Tunisian dinars. The Tunisian Post also dedicated a postage stamp, worth 250 millimes, 200,000 copies drawn on November 11, 2004. In addition, the religious radio Zitouna FM broadcasts the five daily prayers from the mosque.
