The Gurov Memorial was erected in Donetsk on the tomb of Lieutenant General Kuzmy Akimovich Gurov, a member of the Military Association of the Eastern Front. It is located in the Voroshilovsky district of Donetsk, in the square of Teatralnaya Square.
Gurov was one of the leaders of the liberation of the Donbas from the German occupation. He died on 25 November 1943 as a result of a heart attack, his body was transported to Stalino and buried there.
Kuzma Gurov's memorial was erected on his grave in 1954 in a square on Artema Street between the Opera Theater and the "Donbas Palace" Hotel on the basis of the buildings of the 1930s-1940s.
The monument is a bust of Kuzmy Yakimovich Gurov. The authors of the monument are sculptors Juhim Bilostocki and Elius Fridman, architect Mikola Ivanchenko. The bust stands on a high corrugated pedestal made of veneer. The base of the pedestal is in the form of a stylobate with bas-reliefs.
The monument was erected by the Stalin railway carriage repair plant of the regional administration.
In the same park there is a memorial to another activist of Donetsk - Colonel Franz Andriyovych Grinkevich of the Guards.
In honor of Gurov an avenue was also named in Donetsk.
