Asnogorodska strausova ferma

Yasnogorodskaya ostrich farm is the largest ostrich breeding farm in Ukraine. It is located in the village of Yasnogorodtsi Makarivsky district of Kyiv region. Territory - close to 20 hectares for the breeding of birds and close to 60 hectares for growing feed.

The breeding stock - 36 ostriches, imported in March 2001 from Belgium. A month later, in June, the first ostrich cubs appeared in the world.

The total number of ostriches of different ages on the farm at one time exceeds one hundred. On the farm, adult ostriches are kept in specially fenced enclosures in families - one male and several females.

A dozen of experts, who simultaneously carry out scientific and breeding work, serve the birds. Ostriches adapted well to the Ukrainian climate and domestic feed.

On the territory of the farm is also located - a tire store, a children's playground and miniinizopark with: animals: goats, sheep, horses, withers, wild boars and the Vietnam pygmy pigs, there is a dromedary camel; birds: guinea fowl, pheasants, jerks, linden, goose.

The farm specializes in the sale of both adult birds and ostrich children. In addition, the products of the farm are ostrich fodder, meat and eggs of the birds, skins, poultry, fat, eggs, incubators and souvenirs. One of the forms of profit of the company is the reception of tourists and excursions to the farm.

Now on the farm buy ostriches for breeding poultry from Mykolayiv region, Kherson region, Odessa region, Ternopil region, Khmelnychchyna region, Sumy region, Kirovograd region. Thanks to Yasnogorodtsi ostrichism is expanding in the Kiiv region. Now there are about ten of these farms. On their part, the farm provides all kinds of assistance in the care of the birds, breeding, treatment of diseases.

During the Russian invasion of Ukraine, a large number of animals died on the ostrich farm in Yasnogorodtsi near Kiev, and their enclosures burned down.
