G.Y. Sjedov Museum - Museum of the polar explorer G.Y. Sjedov in the village of Sjedov, in the Donetsk region.
The first stone in the Museum of G.J. Södov was laid in February 1977, when the All-Union scientific and geographical conference in honor of the centennial of the polar explorer. As a result of efforts of many enterprises and institutions, individual consumers in 1990 on the shores of the Azov Sea, the village єdove vytrilnik house. In the middle is a hall, which resembles a cabin of a seagoing ship, with unique exhibits and documents about the life of Gregory Södov.
The first exhibitions are devoted to the expeditions of G.J. Södov to Colima in 1909 and the Caspian Sea in 1911.
Most attention is paid to the materials about the expedition to the Pivnichnoe Pole on the ship "Saint Foka" in 1912. Here and a map of the polar expedition, copies of the receipt of voluntary donations from citizens to buy food and dogs. Along with them are original exhibits from the "Saint Foki" - parts of the skin and planking of the ship, a shovel found at the scene of the death of G.J. Sedov on Rudolf Island, parts of the camera and razor, which belonged to a member of the expedition artist M.V. Pinegin. And his manuscript, which depicts "St. Foka" on the eve of the trip to the ice Arctic.
A large section of the exhibition is devoted to the modern exploration of the Riviera. It contains unique materials of the last polar expeditions, philatelic collections, devoted to the topic "The North Pole and its exploration".
A significant and valuable addition to the museum's collection is the local history and development of the village of Sjedovo. Visitors have the opportunity to get acquainted with the lifestyle of fishermen, exhibitions of folk crafts and arts and crafts.
Since the beginning of its existence, the museum has been visited by over 40 thousand people.
