Synevyr, Synevyr National Nature Park

Nestled amidst the verdant landscapes of the Synevyr National Nature Park, Lake Synevyr stands as a tranquil jewel of Ukraine's Carpathian Mountains. Often referred to as the "Pearl of the Carpathians," this natural lake is the largest in the Ukrainian Carpathians, with its waters stretching across approximately 5 hectares.

Formed nearly ten thousand years ago due to a powerful landslide, Lake Synevyr is renowned for its crystal-clear waters and the picturesque islet in the middle, which resembles an eye when viewed from above. This resemblance has given rise to the lake's nickname, "The Sea Eye." At an altitude of 989 meters above sea level, the lake's depth reaches up to 22 meters, providing a habitat for diverse aquatic life.

The surrounding Synevyr National Nature Park, established in 1989, offers a sanctuary for flora and fauna, including brown bears, which can be observed in a rehabilitation center nearby. The park's rich biodiversity and scenic hiking trails make it a haven for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Visitors to Lake Synevyr can enjoy a serene boat ride on its placid waters, explore the educational eco-trails, or simply soak in the majestic views of the thick forested hills encircling the lake. The site is also steeped in local legend, with tales of love and tragedy adding to its mystique.
