Mont Orgueil

Mont Orgueil, a striking example of medieval architecture, stands guard over the eastern shores of Jersey in the Channel Islands, United Kingdom. This formidable castle, also known as Gorey Castle, has overseen the landscape since the 13th century, serving as a symbol of Jersey's national identity and a testament to its historical resilience.

Rising above the village of Gorey, Mont Orgueil has been a key defensive position for centuries, strategically important due to its commanding views of the surrounding seas and its proximity to the French coast. Built following the division of the Duchy of Normandy in 1204, the castle was intended to protect the island from French invasion.
