Located near Fort William, this towering mountain is the eighth highest peak in the United Kingdom and provides a backdrop for the Nevis Range ski resort, which has become a staple for ski and snowboard aficionados.
Opened in 1989, Aonach Mòr offers a diverse range of pistes to cater to all skill levels, from gentle slopes for beginners to challenging descents for seasoned pros. The resort boasts Scotland's only mountain gondola, which transports visitors to 650 meters, where they can enjoy not only skiing but also spectacular views of the surrounding landscape, including the iconic Ben Nevis.
During the ski season, which typically runs from December to April, Aonach Mòr's slopes are maintained to provide the best possible conditions for skiing and snowboarding. The resort is also known for hosting various events, including the Alpine Ski World Cup.
But Aonach Mòr isn't just a winter destination. In the summer months, it transforms into a haven for hikers, mountain bikers, and sightseers. The gondola continues to operate, giving access to mountain bike trails and walking paths that offer panoramic vistas of the Scottish Highlands.
