The title, "1.26" references the 2010 Chile earthquake, which scientists estimate may have shortened Earth's days by 1.26 microseconds. The sculpture's design is inspired by a NOAA graphic simulation depicting the tsunami that followed the earthquake.
Initially, this mesmerizing piece was displayed outside the Denver Art Museum, situated between the museum and the Greek Amphitheater in Civic Center Park. Since its debut, "1.26" has traveled worldwide, enchanting audiences in Sydney (2011), Amsterdam (2012), Singapore (2014), and Durham (2015).
