The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad is a freight and heritage railroad based in Bryson City, North Carolina, United States. As of December 1999, the railroad is currently owned and operated by American Heritage Railways, Inc. which also owns and operates the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad in Colorado. Today, the railroad operates excursions on the former Southern Railway branch line between Bryson City and Dillsboro, North Carolina. The railroad has a total of two steam locomotives and plans to have seven diesel locomotives in their roster. ()
