Geographically, the resort is located within the Rio de la Plata, according to the Treaty of the Rio de la Plata, which establishes the dividing line in the peninsula of Punta del Este. Likewise, we are talking about a river with high marine influences in much of its basin, so this beach is practically bathed by waters of the Atlantic Ocean, which extends its tide even to resorts like Piriápolis, already more internalized in the river, producing greenish colors and clear waters very pleasant for bathing.
The location of Gorriti Island and the presence of the peninsula, somehow "stops" the ocean tide and currents, making the waters reach the coast with little presence of waves, except on stormy days or intense winds. In this way, the typical swell of the open sea, it is possible to contemplate it in resorts belonging to La Brava, already fully located on the oceanic coast.
